Black Sesame Cupcakes

One of my favorite things to do on the net is browsing through baking blogs.  The endless amount of creativity out there is simply astonishing!  One of my most visited blogs is Sprinkle Bakes  by Heather Baird.  Her blog is always full of whimsical, artistic creations (which is why I bought her book as soon as it launched).  When I saw this sesame cupcake post, I knew I had to make it.  It was a grey, gloomy cupcake with a rain cloud topper, but hidden inside is the lemon curd "sunshine".  Now, is there a more suitable cupcake for a Vancouverite??

Tiramisu Cupcakes

Tiramisu.  I've always had a soft spot for this Italian dessert, with its divine combination of mascarpone cheese, ladyfingers and coffee.  Presentation is beautiful...that is, until it is portioned off...then things start getting messy and perhaps not so visually appealing.  Well, here's a whimsical twist on the old classic.  Cupcakes!

Banana & Nutella Babycakes

Bananas are amongst my least favorite foods. Right down there with durian. Sure, I'd eat it if I've been starving for three days and they happen to be the only edible thing around...but by then, Bambino's (my Chihuahua) treats would have looked pretty appetizing too. BUT...Nutella can turn anything around!  Including the detested banana. It really is quite a magical transformation!
